Celebs and Birkins

Was just reading the Daily Mail article on Posh Spice's collection of Hermes Birkin bags and the estimated cost of £1.5m. I hardly believe that she or any other A list celeb pays for the stuff they get. Big names like Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Hermes and the lot of 'em give these things away to the "right" clients. It's called endorsing and promoting a label. These bags cost as much as a car or a house and you think celebs are gonna pay for something like that when they can get it for free. It's all publicity baby. There are some people out there who have been on the scene too long so I hope they have better sense than spending £35,0000 on a damn handbag.

Prints and colour for spring-summer '09

These pieces are from Bloomingdale's. I love that store. Yes they are expensive but they are one of the few upmarket shops you can find good deals in. Doesn't hurt to get inspiration either. These patterns and colours are super!

anna sui

Again I enjoy the work of Anna Sui. She and Betsey Johnson are sort of our answer to Vivienne Westwood with the silly designs.

Prints and cheap heels this season

According to new fashion trends reports we will see a lot with colourful prints this season. That's great but it's spring/summer; warm weather always brings loads of colours and prints. That's nothing new.
Also all the rage is on this new pair of pink heels from Primark. The girls will rush out for trots like Lady Gaga and Posh Spice but ladies what are you gonna do about that really expensive podiatrists bill? Sure these things are cute and darling but do you really wanna wear cheap heels? Pumps are okay cuz you don't have to worry about murdering your arch or getting bunions but I do my best to stay out of cheap heels. I love Primark but this is one I will not be waiting in the queue for.

Black women on the catwalk

I am so glad to see more black fashion models out there but still 7th Ave isn't giving the sistas credit where it is due. Gorgeous black models are still being overlooked for less talented European models. Thank goodness Beverly, Iman, Naomi and Tyra have been able to put their foot down thanks to legends like Dorthea Church.

Donyale Luna

I have never heard much of this different but very interesting black fashion model other than being the first black woman on the cover of British Vogue, an ill fated death from a drug overdose and racial identity. It would be great to see more on her work and life.
The exotic and bold Vogue cover really catches the eye.

Black and white in fashion

I have always enjoyed the work of great fashion photographers such as Ricahrd Avedon, Herb Ritts, Patrick Demarchelier, Mario Testino and Steven Meisel to name a few. These guys have worked wonders with some of the greatest ladies to walk the catwalk.
Fashion ads are great, they are sexy and yes they sell.
Black and white photography is very classic and unforgettable.
